About Us

So, who exactly are Lithium Arts? Well, just one guy actually. My name is Graham Orford and I have been developing and supporting software applications for over 20 years. I grew up in Marlborough and now live in Devizes with my wife, daughter, and labrador. Until recently we also kept chickens but a springtime visit from Mr Fox has put a temporary stop to that (Toby and the hens can be found sharing their pearls of wisdom on most pages).

My coding started as a school kid back in the 80′s, in electronic stores when computers like the ZX Spectrum were on display. I soon learned how to write recursive looping scripts when the shop assistants were not looking (there was no memory sticks back then, you had to type the code there and then). Leaving what I thought were hilarious comments on the screen (thing like “I am cheaper in the shop next door”) then I would leave the shop in the knowledge that most shop assistants did not know how to reset the computer. What a scamp!

Since those early days I have managed to put my coding talents to more productive uses. Working in software houses, healthcare, manufacturing, and telecommunications, both in the development and support sides of the business.

I still work on big blue chip projects to ensure I keep up to date with the latest technology, but my passion is with helping new local businesses solve the problem of getting their new website designed and built. I also work on larger web projects, and for clients all over the country, so geography is no barrier when working on web design projects.

We really hope you like our site. It has been designed to be a little different from many of the web design sites you might have visited; the emphasis is on education rather than sales.

Starting a new business, regardless of the type, will usually require a website. However websites are complex things, so where do you start? Well, hopefully this site can give you all the information you need to get you started. Our only hope is that if you found this site useful you would consider us for the shortlist of suppliers to tender for your website project.

Techie stuff can be rather dry, so we’ve tried to keep the site bright and fun. You’ve probably noticed the dog and chickens in the corner of the pages. They give us endless hours of fun and inspiration so we thought we would share them with you. I hope you enjoy the puns; they took us hours to come up with! If you think you can do better we would love to hear yours.
